Did You Know?

Due to hunting and habitat encroachment, there were only 14 red wolves remaining in the wild by 1973.

Great Bear Rainforest Adventure

BC adventure 2017

One of earth’s most stunning wildernesses on Canada’s Pacific coast, the Great Bear Rainforest is home to a myriad of healthy populations of species of plants, birds and animals, including subspecies and genetically unique populations of wildlife like the Spirit Bear and coastal gray wolf.

Serious environmental challenges have put this region in threat, prompting the action of scientists and conservationists who are working hard to promote the protection of this last wild intact functioning ecosystem and one of the planet's most priceless treasures.

The
Wolf Conservation Center believes it is time to revisit the region to introduce new supporters to the Great Bear Rainforest, its rich cultural, ecological, and economic value, and the measures needed to safeguard this global treasure for future generations.

In an effort to mobilize a concerned global citizenry to achieve large-scale wildlife protection, meeting the “Great Bear” will afford visitors the chance to become immersed in the ecologically rich marine and terrestrial environments of an endangered corner of British Columbia - the kind of place that one can still watch grizzly bears, humpback whales, spirit bears, wolves and so much more all in a single day - while learning about the challenges that threaten its unique biological diversity.

Join Wolf Conservation Center staff and the crew of Mothership Adventures, as you are escorted onboard the stately Columbia III, to explore the wildlife-rich tapestry of forests, fjords and wave-pounded islands that stretch up the coast from British Columbia to Alaska.

Guests will depart from Bella Bella, British Columbia aboard the Columbia III, for a six day five night excursion. Guests will stay in cozy staterooms that comfortably sleep up to two which makes this trip ideal for couples or close friends.  This is a cruising tour with daily trips to the shoreline.  For the protection of the region and wildlife within, the foreseen itinerary will be provided once guests board the Columbia III.  Touring locations are flexible and subject to weather conditions, wildlife activity, and guest input.
